Dr. Stephen Mulholland takes us through the healing properties of the Yelomod line of UV protective clothing from Sunsoul.
yelomöd material is also a special combination of micro-fibre nylon and spandex (84/16) which allows transmission of the sun's healthy rays, while the
dense knit prevents transmission of the harmful UV rays.
yelomöd material is treated with a proprietary 'fluorescent yellow pigment system'on the outside surface and amplifies yellow light transmission through
the material to the skin.
Yellow light is effective for skin rejuvenation procedures bringing out youthful radiance and reversing the aging process. Yellow light is attracted to
red and brown pigments called chromophores. The red pigments are the blue and red blood vessels and the redness we develop on our skin with aging and chronic
sun damage. The brown pigments in the skin are excess melanin also the result of sun damage and aging skin.
Aged skin is characterized by a thinning of the dermis with diminished collagen, elastin and ground substance, manifesting as fine wrinkles, rough texture
and laxity. At the same time, there is a proliferation of chromophores hemoglobin and melanin, giving us redness, broken capillaries and old age spots and
brown discolouration.
The revolutionary yelomöd material uses the same yellow light we use in the clinic, but harnesses that light from the sun. The yelomöd shirts and hats
deliver that high intensity yellow light from the sun which binds to brown, red and blue pigments in our skin, generating the specific targeted heat in the
chromophores that results in gradual lessening of the discolouration. This happens together with a generalized increase in dermal collagen and improvement
in fine lines and texture of the skin.
yelomöd also transmits infrared light to the skin for skin healing effects.
Infrared light causes the hemoglobin in our blood cells to release nitric oxide which is a vasodilator. The dilation provides greater blood flow to
damaged skin cells and tissues, resulting in a speedier healing process with damage skin tissues. This damage may be due to aging, or overexposure to the
sun's UV rays.
yelomöd material also offers the benefits of high-end sport fabric in that it is light weight, breathable and wicks moisture away from the skin.
yelomöd material has been shown clinical trials done in Canada, to be effective in rejuvenating the skin.
The average dose of sunlight needed to rejuvenate the skin is about 2 hours per week in the sun wearing the yelomöd products - this exposure will deliver
about the same dose of yellow light as one would receive in a medical spa or plastic surgeon's office from a light device.
The dose of yellow light from yelomöd material is about 8 mW/cm2
